Sci-Fi Overdrive

28 Days Later

First up, I'll give this movie credit where it deserves. This movie's zombies, "The Infected," rule. They're basically Turbo Zombies. In addition to moving quickly, the infection spreads in under a minute, so the potential exists for a crowd with a zombi- umm, Infected to change into army of Infected. Now for the rest of the movie. Mariah thought they should have show more flesh eating, though.

Nothing as cool as that happens in this crap-fest. In fact, a character mentions how this happened during one of the 28 days before. We don't get to see this totally sweet crowd trampling/ zombi- Infectifying scene. So the movie taunts you with such cool ideas as this, and ends up just being another damn zombie movie, until an hour into it. A lot of zombie movies have the idea of the main characters trying to get to the military base/outpost. These guys make it there in under an hour. Then they sit around. A lot. Then they talk some. Then they sit some more. Eventually the head Military Guy brings up the idea that since all of humanity seems to be dead, somebody needs to start rebuilding the human race, and my but Our Hero brought a pair of fine Lay-dayz with him...

Anyway, now for the complaining. Pepsi! This movie had some Pepsi! badly done shots, Pepsi! including a moving car in one Pepsi! of the early establishing shots Pepsi! trying to show Pepsi! how everyone was dead Pepsi! Also, there was something about product placement... I can't remember what it is. Now some zombie movies rely on lots of zombies, or even some zombies! Not this one, this visionary zombie movie has hardly any "front row" zombies. There's a few group shots, but maybe ten-odd zombies that get any good screen time. They just needed to have more zombie, zombies killing, and zombies killed.
